We will be starting to give the 2024-25 seasonal flu vaccine very soon, so keep reading to learn how to schedule an appointment for you and your child at our Saturday vaccine clinics!

Flu shot season has arrived, and flu season is right around the corner!

Each year millions of people in the U.S. get the flu, and a large number seek emergency care or are hospitalized due to its effects.  The CDC and CMA recommend that almost all individuals 6 months of age and older receive a flu vaccine each year, especially very young children or individuals with high-risk medical conditions like a weak immune system or a chronic disease like asthma or heart disease.

  • All individuals 6 months of age and older who have not previously had a severe allergic reaction to a flu shot
  • Individuals with egg allergies should still get a flu shot, and at CMA we will carry Flucelvax, which is an entirely egg-free flu vaccine.
  • Scheduling can be done through the CMA patient portal, so please sign on to schedule for a time slot that is convenient for you
  • You can also call the office to speak with a member of our team if needed
  • As with previous years, we are offering flu vaccines to children and parents! Many children feel more comfortable getting shots with a family member, so consider making it a family outing to stay healthy this season!
  • We will primarily be giving flu shots, but a small amount of nasal flu vaccine (Flumist) will be available as well.

(NOTE: For families specifically requesting Flumist, we will likely not have this until mid-September.  Please call at that time to inquire and you can register for a vaccine clinic at that time.)

We will also be receiving the updated Moderna COVID vaccine very soon, as it was just approved for emergency use by the FDA last week.  Once in stock, we plan to offer the COVID vaccine along with the flu vaccine during Saturday clinics.

We will send out more information about the COVID vaccine as soon as we have it!!!

A few additional details:

We will open clinic dates for later in September and October when we are able to.  There is no need to wait though, as the doses in September will protect us and our kids throughout the flu season!

Children under 9 years old who have not had the flu shot at least twice in the past are recommended to get two doses of the flu vaccine this season.  The doses can be separated by as little as 28 days.

As noted above, we do not yet have Flumist for families interested in this option, but we should be receiving a shipment in the near future!
