COVID Vaccines from Pfizer & Moderna are approved for children 6 months – 5 years of age under Emergency Use Authorization (EUA). They are now available here at CMA and elsewhere in the community!

Pfizer & Moderna COVID vaccines are BOTH very safe and have been shown to be effective at preventing serious illness and death due to COVID. You can find more information from Virginia Department of Health.

Here’s what you need to know about COVID vaccines at CMA:

Which COVID vaccine does CMA have?

We ordered the Pfizer vaccine at this point, as it may be more effective and has a slightly lower risk of various side effects.

How many doses are needed?

Pfizer requires 3 doses for full immune protection, whereas Moderna requires 2 doses.

When will it be available at CMA?

We are scheduling vaccine appointments through the portal at this time!  We will continue ordering as much as we can. If you don’t get an open slot for your child, please continue to follow emails for the next time that we have openings.

How do I schedule?

Scheduling is through the portal ONLY.  Please sign-up today through our website if you don’t already have an account!

Will it be in both offices?

For now, we are offering the COVID vaccine for children 6 months – 5 years old through the Alexandria office ONLY.  We hope to be able to expand this service to both offices in the near future. This will be dictated by supply and staffing availability.

Can I get the COVID vaccine elsewhere?

YES!  We encourage you to get the vaccine wherever you can.  Children 3 years of age and older can get COVID vaccines at most pharmacies, and all children 6 months – 5 years of age should be able to receive the vaccine at the health department.
